A New Destination Seeped In History

BRISTOL, RHODE ISLAND

Overview

Traverse helped transform the exterior spaces within this historic industrial park to create an attractive and unique destination.

Formerly known as the Bristol Industrial Park and one of the homes of the US Rubber Company, Unity Park is an adaptive re-use project that has transformed this abandoned industrial site into a hub for artisan businesses, including a brewery, distillery, brick oven pizza restaurant, coffee shop and more.

The overall site located on Wood Street in Bristol, RI includes three building groups. This first phase of work included the renovation of two. Traverse worked closely with the architects, JHL Tecture Architects + Engineers and the Owner to re envision this historic site.

A new “main street” was been designed as the connective spine which brings visitors through the park and creates a vibrant and welcoming experience. Patrons will find the new site inviting and softened from its original hard industrial feel. Traverse then worked with individual business owners for create distinct plaza spaces that would match their unique needs and styles and activate the streetscape.

Today Unity Park is home to over 22 businesses and is one of the most vibrant food and drink destinations in Rhode Island.
