Marshfield Gets A New Facility

Marshfield, MA

Overview

Traverse provided design services for new athletic facilities to complement the new Marshfield High School. The two main athletic facilities are highlighted by an 89,000 square-foot, multi-purpose synthetic turf field with home and visitor grandstands, ADA-accessible press box and concessions building as well as a new multi-purpose community synthetic track with long jump, triple jump, high jump and an eight-lane 400 meter IAAF track surrounding a synthetic turf field. The site included a total of eleven natural grass fields, including two baseball fields, two softball fields, and seven multi-use fields as well as an eight-court tennis facility.

Due to the scale of the project, a large number of fields would be off-line for the community. The solution - Traverse assisted the design team through an aggressive construction schedule to turn over the two synthetic turf fields, track, and tennis courts in the first year of construction. Traverse worked extensively with the design team, the school building committee and the community, facilitating discussions regarding design, phasing and construction.
