South-West Middle School

Traverse completed site design and construction administration of Quincy's second MSBA public middle school construction project. Highlights include challenges of a small site surrounded by a thickly settled residential neighborhood and 30' of grade change from Granite Street to the lower fields. Traverse assisted the design team in addressing all neighborhood edges and integrating the grade change in a functional and thoughtful manner.

Quincy Massachusetts was made famous for its granite quarries which provided the granite for many historic monuments throughout the US. This history is conceptualized in the landscape by the granite blocks that are integrated throughout the front and rear entrance plazas and dramatically stepped hillside.
